1940s Vintage British Military CYMA WWW Wristwatch
In the 1940s there was a sudden demand for high quality precision waterproof wristwatches for the various different military departments in Her Majesty's services. This is why several different watch makers supplied the Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy & the Marines with various different watches, some specifically adapted and modified for a special task force
These early 1940s Military Wrist Watch Waterproof watches are becoming increasingly popular given their quality & more importantly provenance they carry. Here we have one of the best WWW’s made by CYMA, and popularly known as the JUMBO model given the case thickness & size when compared against all its competitors e.g. Record, Buren, Timor, Grana, Omega, Longines…etc.
Please do take a few moments to view the large photos below. The original dial & hands have matching tropical patina indicating they were both born with this watch and never changed. The Original Solid Stainless Steel case has some minor wear marks as would be expected from a watch this old with military history. The case back locks into the case body exactly how it should, tight and smooth. Although the recent service history of this watch in unknown, this watch does tick nice and loudly, and has kept very good time. This is one of cleanest examples I have seen a quite some time.
